August 27, 1967 - This shot by Henry Grossman was published on the cover of Teen Life magazine in 1967 cut into two pieces and with the background removed. This version was made by aligning the two pieces and scanning them over a similar photo to restore the look of the original background - plus some additional touch-ups. Maharishi posing with the Beatles and Jane Asher, Cynthia Lennon, Pattie Harrison and her sister, Jenny Boyd at the Normal Teacher’s College in Bangor, Wales.

August 27, 1967 - Photographer Henry Grossman traveled up to Bangor, Wales to photograph the Beatles at Normal College during their planned five-day stay at the Transcendental Meditation conference. These set of portraits were taken shortly after they heard Brian Epstein had died. Maharishi Mahesh Yogi (center) posing with Jane Asher, Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Cynthia Lennon, Pattie Harrison, George Harrison, Ringo Starr and Jenny Boyd.

Note to Beatles’ fans who buy photos on ebay: an ebay seller (griega) often copies photos from websites (this scan is currently listed by griega missidentifying Jenny Boyd as Maureen Starkey - #120996972459) and sells them as small 4”X6” prints at high prices. Dozens of scans I’ve made have been copied and listed on ebay by greiga. If you want prints of photos you see online it’s much cheaper to make them yourself or order prints thru online photo sevices.

LONDON MEDITATION
August 31, 1967 - Soon after the Beatles returned earlier than planned from Bangor, Wales, due to the death of Brian Epstein, a special evening meditation was held in the London home of one of Maharishi’s followers for the Beatles’ party. When Maharishi’s five day conference commitment in Bangor, Wales was completed he returned to London and met with the Beatles again to comfort them after their loss and continue their instruction in meditation. Philip Townsend was the only photographer allowed access on this occasion. Shown left to right in a living room somewhere in London: Paul McCartney, Jane Asher, Pattie Boyd, Mike McCartney, Ringo Starr, John Lennon, Maureen Starkey and George Harrison listening to Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.

These portraits were taken shortly after they heard the devastating news that Brian Epstein had died. The Beatles’ party then dropped out of the conference and returned to London that evening by car. Meditation Lecture in London
Thursday August 24, 1967 - The Beatles and wives plus Jane Asher, Jenny Boyd and Mike McCartney (minus Ringo, who was with Maureen at the hospital taking pictures of five-day-old son Jason!) attended a Transcendental Meditation lecture at the London Hilton Hotel and met Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Pattie had become interested in meditation months earlier and encouraged George and the others to attend. Pattie & George with Jenny (partially obscured) sitting in the front row of the Hilton ballroom during Maharishi’s lecture.
