Oct. 1963 - Jane at a pink party with Honey readers all receiving make-up tips from an expert. From Lady Jane yahoo group.
Pink Party Line
Honey magazine’s make-up party with TV beauty expert Claire Wallace showing guests what colors work best for them. The Honey party set was painted pink and so were all the light bulbs. Guests, including Jane Asher, wore pink or red dresses. The article continues with details about how to host your own beauty themed party…
When I made this scan from Honey magazine’s October 1963 issue Jane Asher was identified in the photo. I still wonder, though, could that be Pattie Boyd in the upper left corner wearing the red shift with her hair up???
Scan as posted at the Lady Jane group at Yahoo!
Yes, she seems Pattie a lot, and then this would be wonderful!! the two modeling together! :)
Yes! So interesting to see Pattie and Jane modelling together several months before Pattie met George filming A Hard Day’s Night. Have never seen any mention that Pattie and Jane met previous to their Beatles connection - wonder if they remember meeting? Will put making a larger scan of this on my list of things to do!
Source of these scans is the Pattie Boyd’s Sixties Style group at Yahoo! Photos taken by Shaun Woodnutt in 1963 and published with the following article in UK Men Only magazine, July 1964.
SHE’S TOPS WITH THE POPS
Lucky Patti (sic) Feels At Ease With The Beatles
If the name Pattie Boyd doesn’t ring a bell, it soon will. For Pattie, a sylph-like 20-year-old from Taunton in Devon, is a youngster who’s discovered there’s always room at the top if you’ve got what it takes.
That this ex-convent schoolgirl has what it takes is immediately apparent to the connoisseur - lissom figure, pert smile and an individual personality … which have lifted her to the top model-girl ranks, into the film the Beatles have made, and into the new TV “Danger Man”* series.
Pattie is also one of the biggest talking points as far as Beatle’s fans are concerned: her name has been romantically linked with George for the past few months.
“George is my favourite,” she admits. “He’s got time to talk to you.”
But Pattie wasn’t always at ease with the Beatles.
“I first met them with a mixture of excitement and nerves. I wanted to talk to them but I was afraid because I couldn’t think of anything to say.”
But she has evidently said plenty since then … for she accompanied the Beatles, in particular George, on their “let’s get away from it all” whistle-stop tour round the world.
Yet when George first asked her for a date she turned him down!
“I didn’t accept,” explains Pattie, “because I already had a boyfriend at the time.”
Her friendship with George developed when the Beatles and entourage of film-men, fans and hangers-on went down to Devon for location shots for their film.
But despite the growing rumours … “there’s no engagement,” Pattie and George insist, “nor is it foreseen.”
Blonde, blue-eyed Pattie (“Battie” to the Beatles) has been modelling 18 months, says she much prefers simple but stylish clothes to the exotic designs - “I go for the younger, modern type of fashion.”
Ambition? “I’m quite happy modelling,” she smiles.

*This article refers to Pattie having a role in the TV series, Danger Man, which starred Patrick McGoohan and ran for six seasons beginning in 1964. A Yahoo! Group member emailed Pattie about it in March 2009 and received the following reply:
…”I never appeared on “Danger Man” as acting was not what I did then, except of course A Hard Day’s Night,
Best wishes, Pattie”
